About Us

**Our Roots in Ohio**
At the close of WWII, when Joseph and Mary Restivo knew their sons were coming home safely, they purchased a piece of property on the quiet, rural shoreline of Catawba Island, Ohio. Along with their sons, Bud and Bernie, a family cottage was built by hand. Summers at the cottage consisted of days filled with boating, fishing, and swimming the wonderful waters of Lake Erie. As the years passed and their families grew, each generation built upon Joseph and Mary’s love of Lake Erie and everything it provided. The tiny cottage that was initially intended for four people would eventually become the summer gathering place for Bernie’s family…all 7 children, 23 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren (for now).

**Lake Life**
While the extended family still spends sun-drenched days in Catawba, some have become more immersed in living the lake life. As fourth generation “Restivos”, siblings Tommy and Sarah Gerken have decided to take their passion for Lake Erie, and everything her western basin has to offer, and invite others to share in it.

**Captain Tommy**
As a life-long hunter, fisherman, and boater, as well as becoming a recent USCG Master Captain, Tommy has explored the open waters and shores of Lake Erie since he was a young boy. Day trips to the Erie Islands, long days drift fishing for walleye, and even ice fishing in the cold, winter months has given Captain Tommy a special and thorough understanding of our islands and waters of the North Shore.
With his diverse background — of being drafted to play competitive Junior A hockey as a young man, to working in the operating room as a surgical tech, to acting as a fishing guide in the local waters — Captain Tommy has a calm demeanor beyond his years, while staying young and playful at heart.
You’ll rarely find someone who can make you feel as welcome as an old friend, yet excited to be doing something new and engaging with someone you’ve just met. His eagerness to entertain and guide guests through a picture-perfect day on the water is only surpassed by his professionalism and respect for the people, creatures, and culture of those he meets along the way.

Fun on Lake Erie
Whether you want to swim the cool water off the north side of Kelley’s Island, roam the quaint streets of Put-In-Bay, or take a leisurely ride while sipping cocktails and watching the sunset, Captain Tommy will make sure your time aboard is safe, fun, and filled with memories and stories to share for years to come.
